New Avenues for Artists and Cartoonists

The addition of social networking capabilities have opened up unlimited opportunities for artists who are clever enough to seize them. Collect enough fans, and you have the beginnings of a new business.

Glenn Jones, is freelance graphic designer and illustrator based in Auckland, New Zealand. Glenn (from NZ = GLENNZ) worked in the design industry for over 17 years focusing on packaging, corporate identity and illustration.

But then he had success designing whimsical t-shirt designs on Threadless.com, an e-commerce web site that allows artists to post designs that will be voted on my its user community. The designs which receive the most votes then get printed and sold in a limited edition.

His work became so popular that he eventually created his own store with shirts, laptop skins, mouse pads and calendars.

Here is a Flickr album of his popular designs from Threadless.com

Proportions by age

Here is a sheet on how human proportions change with age.

I believe this is the same sheet that Frank had in class last Saturday.

Human Proportions

Hey class! I found this really good sheet on human proportions. Click on the link to view it. Right-click on the image to save it to your computer.
